Woodfins sold me a transmission with over 192k miles

Updated by user Nov 13, 2013

They have picked up the old transmission but have never sent a replacement or issued a refund. I have filed a dispute with the CC company and received temporary credit. If they don't respond within 45 days it becomes permanent.

Original review Oct 08, 2013
Woodfins' policy per their website is that mileage on used parts will be no more than 15k per year. For the 2004 Trailblazer this works out to 135k miles. The transmission they sent had dark brown fluid and the inside of the pan had remnants of black deposit where they didn't clean it all off. I sent three emails and called twice. They are very apologetic on the phone and promise to call back with information about the replacement and picking up the old one but never call back. There is no way I'm putting this junk in my car. I'm filing a dispute with my credit card company and will sue them in small claims court if that does not work.

I had the VIN from the donor and checked it using Carfax or a similar car information service.

The refund has become permanent, they did not dispute the claim.

how did you know that the transmission that was sent to you had 192k on it?

This company is a sham

Beware of these guys. Woodfins no longer operates a yard on genito they operate out of call center in midlothian. When you call Woodfins you are actually calling a company called Cuore. A call center on Alverser Dr. Cuore is actually handling all of Woodfins sales now. Cuore is a subsidiary of MS MArketing LLC which sells the MyGait computer and the New Wave Oven. When you call for auto Parts you will never be given the mileage on the parts you buy you will be told that they go buy an "industry Standard" of 12,000 miles per year. They do offer good guarantees but they do everything they can to weasel out of them, and they don't always tell the customer that the warranties don't cover labor. They'll tell you that they have an A rating with the better business bureau but if you look they are not members nor are they accredited by them. They'll also tell you that they have 140 warehouses in various parts of the country but they don't tell you where. This is because they don't have all those places and they get most of the parts they sell from a website called car-part.com. Their prices are a little higher but they'll tell you that's because of the process they go through to inspect the parts and pack them for shipping when it's really because they are buying parts from other auto junk/recycle dealers. They encourage their sales people to cut corners just so they can make their numbers. Woodfins is owned by Mr. Joey Woodfin who is hardly ever in the office. Mr. Woodfin was also the CEO of a company called everdrive (read those reviews!). At one time Woodfin was known for it's quality but now it is nothing more than Everdrive rebranded with the Woodfin name to try and draw attention away from everdrive's horrible reputation. They'll tell you that everdrive's problems were because of their shipping company, which is BS. The same problems that palgued everdrive are now plaguing Woodfins and I wouldn't send my worst enemy to them to buy parts. Terrible place to work and terrible place to buy. Just see what Cuore/Woodfin's other current and former employees are saying. I wouldn't even give this place one star.

thanks for the info, i guess thats why their numbers are no longer in service..... i will go elsewhere for my part

Dear sir. I can in fact confirm all that you are saying.

Woodfins does nothing but use the free public website www.car-part.com to find the parts that it sells its customers. It is indeed the exact same company as EverDrive that went out of business in 2010, just rebranded to use the owner's name in the company name. It is indeed owned by Joseph Woodfin, who used to own Woodfin's Honda on Genito Road in Midlothian, VA before that was sold to Chesterfield Auto Parts.

In fact several of the sales associates from EverDrive still work for the company such as Ronnie and Corey.

Do not trust any part you get from them, they will buy the cheapest part they can find on car-part.com, have that salvage yard send it to you directly, and make you think it is a quality checked over part.

You are obviously disgruntled but you are incorrect in your assessment of the business intentions. It was a respectable business run by respectable men.

There was every effort to ensure the parts customers received were of quality status.

However they were recycled parts and sometimes failed. Social media always hears from unhappy customers but seldom from the MANY where were well satisfied with the help and service they received.

I recently ordered a $2,000 engine and didnt read this until afterward I paid for it.. It scared the *** out of me..!!

I actually typed in reviews so I could post a good review and this caught my eye and it just seems rediculous, I got a a good engine at a good price so what does any of this post actually matter..?

When i go out to dinner I want a great steak, I don't want or need to know how old the cow was or what state its from..lol.. Its just sad that nobody ever takes the time to write a good review so I tried to take the time to write one but I ended up doing this instead.

Ripped Off! Shipping & "Refurb" Part worse than Broken part

I needed a new cylinder head for my V.W Gulf. I was told by the VW dealer to buy a refurbished part to save money. The price was very reasonable but my mechanic asked me if I got it at a junk yard; and that the part was worse than the one in my car! Ripped of Shipping I paid $100 for expedited shipping. The part was still shipped UPS Ground. When I returned the part shipping was $50 for UPS Ground! When I tried to be refunded the $50 difference I was told it was expedited and got no where! Returns It took two weeks before I was able to get a hold of customer service to receive the part. I was not refunded any of the outrageous $100 shipping amount. Side Note I was respectful when arguing the shipping difference, but I did not catch more bees with honey!

Scam and run

Our auto shop ordered an expensive used part which was delivered. Woodfins never sent an invoice or packing list. When we tried to contact them for 2 weeks they always said they would call back with the right person. Finally I contacted the responsible person who told me to get with the times that companies do not issue invoices or packing lists, clearly they want us to ship the part and then state we never shipped etc. This is a very shaky company, we will not ever order from here ever again - be very ware! Just think if you have a part that fails, good luck with that!

Scammed for 1,750

I bought an engine from wood fins for 1,750. Had it shipped to an auto shop. I paid for a warranty. The engine is bad. Now I owe the mechanic 1,200 dollars and I lost the dispute over the engine that I filed with my bank because the mechanic won't pull the engine until I pay him for putting it in. So, after spending almost three thousand dollars to get my car going, I'm right where I started with it. This really hurts me financially. I needed that car for a job. Wood fins is a swindling lying company that is going to rip you off if they get a chance. I strongly urge anyone needing auto parts to buy them elsewhere.

Woodfins are crooks

These people take payment for items and then never shipp them. They act nice and ask for more time but NEVER send your parts. Buyer be VERY aware !!!!! I ordered a transmission in Sept. of 2012 and paid for it via Paypal. Billy Wagner told me 8 times that the item had shipped but he was not able to supply me with a tracking number. He repeatedly made excuses and when I asked that he simply refund my money he refuses. It has exceeded 45 days so Paypal will not respond to the dispute. Wagner is a deliberate theif and liar. I would highly recommend avoiding this company !!!!!

I iust read your story, I have 2002 Nissan Pathfinder and my motor had seized up w 103,000 mls. Tire Plus had given me an estimate of$4800.

to do the entire job w a moyor with approx. the same amount of mls. and like a fool I thought I could save some money buying a used motorfrom a co.called Woodfins for $2154.99 with a 1yr.parts warranty and have a freind of mine who's a mechanic. I decided not to have him do the installation becaused I felt it was to big a job to be done in a garage.

I foundthis co.,ICS COLD AIR with a good reputation. They said they could the entire job for around $15 to $2000. and ofcourse it turned out 2 be $24.00.I have the car towed over there and 3wks. the job was done and then theres an anti freeze leak which they said they just needed to tighten up a clamp well it still leaked. Now he tells me he has to order a part from Nissan and it's goin to cost around $350.go ahead and do it.

A week later I notice oil unde the car between the tranny hookup the main crank main seal.He tells me I can see where it's coming from but I will have take the tranny apart to see exactly where it's leaking and I said U got to do what U got to do.He says I can't take ur whole car apart to see where it's leaking from it' will cost U $1000. I said under ur warranty why should I have to pay U $1000. when U installed the motor and talking to mechanics from Nissan says most likely rear main seal which he changed and put in. Being on disability I said I can't afford another $1000.

when U should be finding that leak under ur 90 days warranty he wouldn'tdoit. So I took the car and drove and checked the oil everyday. My so takes the car and on interstate I-75 the car just dies, towed to nearest repair shop,Goodtear and the mechanic say there is no compreeion in this motor so towed back to Cold Air and he tells me the same thing,1st he said it could be timming chain and then he says timming chan is fine just no compression, So now I had enough and callWoodfins and talkto CS Robert and say send me all the installation papers to see what we're talking about and then we're go from there.A week goes by and no call back,Itried calling Robert and he was always busy or out. Finally when I do get a call back he say there were certain things that weren't installed properly especially a water pump which he said had to be a brand new water pump. I said this is BS the parts on my engine I was told just needed to be switched onto this JUNG YARD motor that they sold me.He calls ICA and the mechanic tells him the car over heated and most likely theres a blown head gasket. I know if you have a blown head gasket that most definitly there is other problems now.

With this type of motor if U over heat U now could have a cracked head, piston, through a rod a whole lot could be wronge withis motor. So with the towing chaarges, repairs to an`ti freezs and oil leak I have about$5500. into this mess and now the car is at a Nissan servic shop causr the manager said he read my e-mail and said he would go over the car 4 free and document everything that he could without taring to much apart and see if I can be compensated in anyway from WoodfinsUsedAuto Parts. Stay away from this company thier parts come directly from junk yards and delivered to U.

1more thing, whe I decided to have a Certified mechanics shop do the installation, I called up Woodfins and asked to purchase the Labor contract and they refused to sell it to me, said U needed to buy it at time of motor purchased which that I can understand.

As a company that says there not Junk Yard parts and that there network checks out there parts is bunch of BS,As far as standing behind thier Warranty's forget about it, but I'm goin to fight this all the way they shouldn't be allowed to get away with this kind of bussiness. Say Junk Yard Parts. If anyone has delt with this company and can help me out I would sureky appreiate it, robertmarro828@***.com Thank You.......

Woodfins Auto Parts Buyer Bad parts and Bad Customer Service

Woodfins Auto Parts of Midlothian, VA, Beware, this company sells "guaranteed used parts" but the only thing your guaranteed is bad parts and bad customer service. I paid $700 for them to send me 2 bad transmissions and I ended up having to pay the mechanic to R&R TWICE and still had a defective transmission, plus towing, diagnostics and storage. Customer service is a joke, the "salesman" Ronnie gave me the run around for two weeks, then I got to talk to J.T and he did the same thing to me saying they had to have it back before anything can be done, blah blah blah, finally i filed a complaint with the BBB and I was contacted by their accountant and they promptly sent me a check for $700 but refused to compensate me for labor. BEWARE.
